Michelangelo College of creative Arts, Kisubi is a catholic founded nonprofit vocational art and design institution of higher Education in Uganda specialized in providing both formal and informal vocational art and design education and training at both certificates and Diplomas and soon degree programmes will be offered.
The college is based in Kisubi Mission Village, Kisubi Parish, Katabi Town council, Wakiso District in Uganda, East Africa, along Kampala –Entebbe Road, 15miles Nabinoonya stage, J.C.Kiwanuka Church Road. The college was initiated by its founding principal director Rev. Bro. Frederick Musaazi of BSCL, a professional multi talented Artist, sculptor, Educationalist, Theologian and Philosopher. And the college was founded by Bannakaroli Brothers (Brothers of St Charles Lwanga) in the year 1989 and was formally instituted in the year 1995.The college now is fully registered by the ministry of education, science, technology and sports (MoESTS). And it’s also recognized and licensed by the National council for Higher Education in Uganda. Since then, it has trained students on Diploma and certificate levels in art and design studies.
The college was conceived to be an exemplary centre of Excellence in creative arts with the aim of creating professionally qualified and skilled art and design personnel (artisans) with students drawn from diverse multi-National background in East and Central Africa including countries like Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan and Congo.
Our graduates have been at the fore front in the contributing to the professionalization of creative Arts in the field of Practice, Teaching and research in Uganda and the world over as a result of appropriately designed and relevant courses that the college offers.
In this day and age where a good number of the youths are facing the challenge of unemployment, we train the trainees to identify and develop their talents in various fields of creative Art and design. The training given to them helps to generate and motivate the spirit of self-reliance and creativeness in the ever growing, dynamic and vibrant Art and design industry, that incorporates Modern and indigenous craft. In addition to the practical courses, the students are equipped with skills in Vocational entrepreneurship, Art research methodologies, Marketing and development studies in art and design industry.
The College currently offers art academic award at both Certificate and Diploma levels and soon the degree programme will be introduced. The college has initiated another new faculty of ICT in addition to that of Art and Design. It also provides opportunity for creative art and design academic research as well as Art exhibitions and creative arts tour services
